Path to Evidenced Based Testing and Interventions for Balance Impairments

Do you feel at times that you have designed and delivered the best balance program and yet your patients still have some problems with their balance? In this 3 hour LIVE Webinar, you will gain knowledge of the impact of balance impairments on function in older adults. In addition to learning valuable techniques for screening the oculomotor system and testing the vestibular system, you will also have immediate tools to use in treatment for deficits in these areas. You will also learn practical testing tools and treatment strategies for postural control issues. You’ll get innovative, usable evaluation and treatment techniques that will dramatically change your practice.

  1. Thoroughly evaluate the Vestibulo/Ocular system and how it affects elderly with balance dysfunctions.
  2. Create innovative treatment strategies that will effectively address postural control issues in the geriatric patient.
  3. Identify causes of central and peripheral dizziness, recognize the different mechanisms of recovery and how to impact them with therapeutic intervention.

14 minutes – Impact of Balance Impairments and Identifying the Major Factors
22 minutes – Screening the Oculomotor System and Treatment Strategies to address deficits identified.
40 minutes – Testing the Vestibular System and Design Vestibular Treatment Strategies.
54 minutes – Organization of Postural Control: Learning Testing Tools and Creative Treatment Strategies.
30 minutes – Case Study/Discussion
10 minutes – Conclusion and Wrap Up

Upon completion of the course, a certificate of attendance for 3 contact hours of educational credit will be awarded. Course Format: Live Webinar

Target Audience: Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Assistant.

Instructional Level:Intermediate

Refund Policy: Cancellations must be received in writing at least two weeks prior to the seminar date for tuition refund less a $25 administration fee. NO refunds will be made after this date or if any of the course materials are downloaded.

Criteria for Completion:

A post-test will be given at the end of the Webinar. A post-test score of 75% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 75% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved. You will receive a certificate of completion for 3 contact hours.
