Manual Therapy for the Older Adult:

Demonstrations of the Latest Clinical Approaches

We know that manual therapy is crucial to what we do. But do we know which techniques are most effective. Dr Carole Lewis PT, DPT, GCS, GTCCS, MPA, MSG, PhD, FSOAE, FAPTA will provide an exhaustive review of the literature for issues commonly seen in older adults: back and neck pain, shoulder, hip, foot, upper extremity and knee problems. She will then explain and demonstrate any exercise protocols associated with the manual therapy techniques.

Dennis Welling, PT, MTC, DPT, FSOAE experienced and dually certified manual therapist will demonstrate all the manual techniques described on an older patient and will teach the proper application to another therapist so you can see the common mistakes and suggestions for proper execution of this important modality.

What participants are saying . . .

“It is very helpful to have long-term access to your very well-done videos to review the research and manual therapy positioning and techniques.”

“I will share so, so many of the manual techniques with the other PT in my facility. I already shared the SIJ mobs with her.”

“I liked the explanation of various protocols and methods often lacking in studies. It’s always been frustrating to find an interesting study, only to find the exact interventions not detailed.”

“I found the review of major research for each module and the clear instructions for hands on tx. I especially liked that we can observe 2 therapists review each technique. Also appreciate each of the handouts.”

Upon completion of the course participants will be able to

  1. Discuss the efficacy of manual therapy for a myriad of conditions affecting older adults
  2. Demonstrate the DonTigny, Deyle, Bautman, Bennell and many other manual protocols
