Beth O’Rourke, OTD, OTR/L, BCPR, was an Associate Professor at Huntington University from 2014- 2020. Beth has held positions as a full-time OT in a skilled nursing facility, assistant rehabilitation director, and PRN OT at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital and acute care hospital. Beth served in several leadership roles with Pi Theta Epsilon, a Board Certification reviewer for AOTA, and AOTF Scholarship Foundation reviewer. Beth has participated in a collaborative summer research-intensive program sponsored by the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) and the Student Research Fellowship Program (SRFP). This research opportunity provides a unique interprofessional opportunity to conduct research studies in other health care disciplines. Beth is still passionately pursuing research on a variety of topics including intensive care unit protocols, fall prevention and judgment in the older adult population, pain management in the burn unit, and the impact of interprofessional practice on patient outcomes.
In addition to her community contributions, Beth is working with the Fort Wayne Area Interprofessional Education Consortium. Dr. O’Rourke is collaborating with multiple universities to present and share the IPE experience to other education programs. During her time with Huntington University's OTD program, Beth coordinated local and international mission opportunities.
