Evidence-Based Examination and Interventions for the Foot Problems of the Older Person


The feet are crucial for function, yet who besides physical and occupational therapists ever get patients to take off their shoes? Improving our skill in examining and intervening in foot issues can dramatically help our patients. This course will present current evidence regarding the feet and foot problems, followed by examina¬tion and intervention techniques. Intervention strategies and progressions will be presented including modified joint mo¬bilizations stretching and therapeutic exercise techniques specific for older persons with foot problems.

  1. Select evidence based interventions and outcome measures for persons with foot related problems
  2. Discuss intervention modifications to existing rehabilitation and note simple ways to incorporate manual techniques learned in the course into programs for the older foot.
