You are working in one of the most difficult areas of rehabilitation. You are not the only one that ends a workday thinking “If I only had more time with my patients…” We all struggle to balance the planning and care for our patient’s success, maximizing our knowledge and skills with the time given, making the environment optimal and utilizing the appropriate resources/equipment for carryover that will serve our patients and their families, our coworkers and facility staff to the best of our ability. But how can we do this in a SNF and home care? Which are both tough areas to practice in but can be the most fulfilling. Corey Colbert has been doing this for almost two decades and wants to share his practiced and researched finding with you.
Considering our patient’s biological/genetic, psychological and social aspects in a short period of time, with a narrow window to devote to our patients, caregivers and coworkers to create the best set of goals can be overwhelming. The old saying of “do more with less” seems to be dominant in healthcare now…less time, less visits, less equipment, less staff, less, less, less. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a helpful course that would provide us with a few principals and resources that would allow us the ability to maximize our time in our SNF and homecare while not compromising on quality care? Corey Colbert, MS, OTR/L, FSOAE, GTCCS will guide you through ideas, give resources and discuss evidence-based interventions that will equip therapists to understand our patients and to “do more with less.”
